Who am I ?

I was a founding member of an 80's American rock band named ’til tuesday, signed to Epic records. Aimee Mann was the singer and chief songwriter in that band. I was a co writer on the first two records, both of which went gold, including the top 10 hit (USA) Voices Carry. As a member of ’til tuesday I toured all over the U.S. Canada, Europe and Japan. We opened on tours with acts like Hall and Oates, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Moody Blues, Rick Springfield and Cheap Trick. We did a few headline tours as well. The group won an MTV award for best new artist. Three singles went into the top 40. We were written about in various publications like Rolling Stone, People Magazine, Spin, Interview etc. We appeared on television shows like "Solid Gold" and "American Bandstand".

I’ve been playing music professionally since then. I've played with some people you've probably heard of and many more you haven't. I fronted my own power trio for a while, sang acapella doo wop (with these guys )  and have done countless gigs of every kind in every type of venue with all sorts of different types of bands. I've also spent many, many hours recording everything from polka CD's (yes, more than one) and jingles to punk rock and pop singles.

What's new ?

It's Summer 2013. I'm living in the UK but still have many ties to the USA where I lived for the bulk of my life. I regularly do solo gigs and normally play with at least one band. One band I work with in the UK named Wilderspin, is a vehicle for the songs and singing of Mark Wilderspin and producer/bass player/singer Paul Bryant. It's a sort of folky prog rock thing. We are gigging around here and there, and dates are posted on their website.

Another band I play with a whole lot is a classic British Rock and Blues power trio pub act called First Offence. The link is to a Facebook page which lists all the dates, but I think you might have to be on Facebook to view it.

I've just done some remote/file swapping recording with Frank Coleman  a dear old friend and former band mate now living in NYC. I played on a track called Secret Agent - Buenos Aires International Airport. Frank is and always has been a true multi faceted artist and creative force not to mention a kick ass rock drummer.

I also played at the end of 2012 on a long awaited full length CD by a mysterious band based in New Hampshire, USA named Earth Colony. The drummer and one of two producers/creative forces is Jan Uvena, formerly with Iron Butterfly, Alice Cooper and Alcatraz. The other major force is Roger Tod. He's the mysterious part. The tracks really rocked and I can't wait to hear finished mixes. It's a sort of hippyish hard rock sometimes bordering on metal.

Last year in the U.S. I was working with an artist named Effi Kalas including live gigs, writing and recording. A song called "Signs"  is posted on her website and a sample is heard as the first track on my demo reel above.

I've also been doing some gigs and recording with Sarana Verlin an American artist who has moved to the UK and her American musical partner Billy Brandt.

Sarana is the singing violin playing woman in Wilderspin. She's had a long career, is a fine writer herself and has a great CD out called Bats and Butterflies.

In the US in 2011 I played on a few tracks for an artist named Jared Dylan One song in particular "Ready Set Stun" getting  attention and kudos.

Another CD I played guitar on produced by Anthony Resta called "Can't Quit" by My Silent Bravery  was
nominated for CD of the year by Indie Music Digest  and got all sorts of positive attention and great reviews elsewhere.
A video of the track called "To Give" featuring Matisyahu, which I also played on is approaching 250,000 views on youtube.

A single I played on in the US last year for an artist named Megan Harney has just been finished and the video can be found here

I also made a record, released Nov 2010 with Velveteen Playboys , contributing significantly to the writing and production which can be downloaded on itunes or purchased directly from their website.

This is a demo reel of 12 different recording samples on which I am the guitarist and in some cases I'm also singing. It starts with some of the most recent first.Credits are here.

This  is a link to my soundcloud page where there are a few recent home recordings.
Most of them are covers of songs from the 1930's not for any particular reason.
